When will Cleopatra in Space 6 be released?

It is out now! Queen of the Nile was released on August 4th, 2020. You can purchase it HERE.

How did you come up with Cleopatra in Space?

Cleopatra in Space started off as me simply trying to be silly. I drew an illustration of the famous pharaoh floating in space with a giant space bubble helmet and a floating cat beside her. I wrote the words “Cleopatra in Spaaaace!” at the top, eventually started drawing her in a comic, and the rest, as they say, is history!

I hope to write a more extensive origin story soon, but for now that’s the nuts and bolts of it.

With Cleopatra in Space coming to an end, what are you working on now?

I’ll hopefully have an announcement of my next project sometime in 2021. I will say it will be a standalone book unlike the six volumes it took to tell Cleopatra in Space.

Will there be a Cleopatra in Space #7?

Unfortunately, for now, Cleopatra in Space #6 will be the last book in the series. I reached the ending I wanted to tell. However, there’s always the possibility I’ll come up with a new story for Cleo one day.

Are you involved with the Cleopatra in Space TV show?

I consulted and provided feedback during its early production. Many of the changes from the books (such as Akila being an alien) were approved by me.

What is your favorite movie?

I love so many movies, but my absolute favorite is Transformers: The Movie (the 80’s animated one). Much of that movie’s structure and themes have made their way into all the stories I tell.

Some of my other favorites include: Tron, Speed Racer, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Kung-Fu Panda, The Empire Strikes Back, Avengers, and any Wes Anderson film.

What is your favorite book?

Jeff Smith’s Bone is the book that has had more influence on my work than any other.

I’m also a huge fan of Blankets, Pluto, Fantasy Sports, Diesel, Neverwhere, The Golem and the Jinni, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Lord of the Rings, The Song of Albion trilogy, and the works of CS Lewis.

What are some of your favorite TV shows?

Avatar: The Last Airbender, Duck Tails, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and The Mandalorian are just a few.

Any advice for aspiring artists and writers?

A ton! Far too much to fill up here. But my simple six-step process to becoming an author is as follows:

1. Create a story
2. Write/draw that story
3. Finish that story (important!)
4. Share that story
5. Be kind (also important!)
6. Repeat

What is the best way to stay in touch with you?

My involvement in social media comes in waves, but twitter is probably where I’m most active. You can pretty much follow me at most of your favorite social hangouts though.

I also recommend subscribing to my newsletter.
