HeroesCon 2015

One of my favorite shows of the year is nearly here. HeroesCon is this weekend! And I’ll be there residing in Indie Island once again, this time near the back (table AA-1024). Look at this useful map I made to help you find me!

Click here for the entire floor.

If you are attending, you’ll also have the chance to take home this original Batgirl/Supergirl canvas I painted for the annual art auction (held at the Westin across the street from the convention center). One of a kind! It took a while. Probably won’t do something like it again.

Also Cleo books 1 and 2! New prints! Stickers! A three-year-old! A pregnant wife! Exclamation marks!!! This might also be my last HeroesCon for a couple of years, so I really hope some of you are able to stop by.

HeroesCon is this weekend! Above is a Harley & Ivy watercolor I painted for this year’s Heroes Aren’t Hard To Find art auction. I’ll be at Artist Alley table 1113 (pretty much smack dab in the middle of the convention floor). Here’s a map:

And here’s a bigger map.

I’ll also be on a panel Saturday morning. Info for that:

10:30 am
Room 209
Moderator JIMMY AQUINO (COMIC NEWS INSIDER) is joined by MIKE MAIHACK (Cleopatra in Space), CHRIS SCHWEIZER (the Crogan series), ANDY RUNTON (Owly), JEREMY WHITELY (My Little Pony), STEPAHNIE GLADDEN (Peanuts) and THOM ZAHLER (My Little Pony) to talk about their amazing comics. They’ll discuss why they went into this genre and if there is a difference between “kid’s comics” and “all-ages comics”.

Plus, Cleo books, sketchbooks, gobs of prints, a restless two-year-old (not for sale), a gorgeous wife (also not for sale)…tons of great stuff. Hope to see some of you there!

MegaCon 2014

I’ve been so busy with Cleo 2 that I’ve failed to mention I’ll be at this year’s MegaCon in Orlando, FL. You’ll be able to find in the same spot I’ve been at in the however many years I’ve been attending this show: Artist Alley, table white 7. Here’s a map:

CiS: Target Practice unfortunately won’t be out for another month, but if you stop by I may be able to give you a sneak preview of it. I did find a stack of Operation Space Cat sketchbooks last night though I thought I sold out of so I’ll have those on hand. Plus a ton of new prints including all seven Batgirl/Supergirl comics.

Always enjoy going to this show since, besides being only an hour away, I get to see so many familiar faces and hang out with good friends. Hope to see some of you there!

Heroes Con 2013

HeroesCon is once again almost upon us! This year, the show is twice as big and you’ll be able to find me smack dab in the middle of it at Indie Island table AA-1006. As always, here’s a handy map to show you exactly how to get there.

And HERE is a GIANT map of where that is in relation to the entire floor.

I’ll also be on a panel spotlighting Project: Rooftop Saturday at 2PM. Here are the details for that:

Room 203B
What do you get when you take some of the most talented artists in the world and challenge them with redesigning an icon? PROJECT: ROOFTOP, the superhero redesign site, is here at Heroes Con, LIVE! Join Dean Trippe and Vito Delsante, two of the popular site’s editors, and their guests, Ron Salas, Joel Priddy, Mike Maihack, Joel Carroll, Joe Quinones, Ming Doyle, and Dan Govar as they discuss costumes, masks, capes and announce a special challenge open exclusively to HeroesCon attendees!

That’s a lot of awesome (I hope there’s enough chairs). It will also be the first place to see the “super” piece I painted for the annual HeroesCon auction Sat night. So you won’t want to miss it.

Other than that, I’ll just be hanging out at my table. I’ll have a limited amount of Operation Space Cat books as well as some old and new prints. If I look a little sad it’s because this is the first year Jen and Prime won’t be with me and I will miss them. So make sure to stop by and cheer me up by buying stuff. :)

I will be at Baltimore Comic-Con this weekend, September 8th-9th at the Baltimore Convention Center. Once again I’ll be sharing space with some of the best kid and all-ages comic creators in the business at the Kids Love Comics pavilion- Booth 2403. Map and info below.

Along with Heroes Con, BCC is one of the best kid-friendly shows on the east coast and there’s going to be a lot of events and activities going on. So if you have children, make sure to bring them by. My attendance was something of a last minute thing, but hopefully I can squeeze in some sort of activity or demonstration as well. Maybe show the kids how to draw space cats or sumthin. At any rate, should be a fun time and I look forward to seeings some of you there!

My watercolored piece for the Heroes Con art auction this year. Featuring everyone’s favorite superhero duo (well, mine anyhow). You (or a friend) can bid on it Saturday night!

Heroes Con is this weekend, June 22-24 in Charlotte, NC. I’ll be in Indie Island table AA-530, surrounded by friends, as indicated by this awesome map:

Hope to see you there!

Finally found time to offload some of the con sketches I drew in Baltimore:

Lots of Kitties in that batch! Again, poorly shot iPhone photos so if any owners want to email me a hi-res scan, here’s my address: mike(at)cowshell(dot)com.

Thanks to everyone who came by! Had a fantastic weekend. :)

Here’s my very late piece for Bristolwhip‘s “red” topic. I think I’m only three topics behind now? Yeesh.

Also- tomorrow is Baltimore Comic-Con! And once again I’ll be sitting with the awesome Comic Book Diner folk, creators of many fine all-ages and kid-friendly tales. Here’s a map of how to find me:

I’ll have new Cleo books with me and LOTS of new prints. I’ll be drawing for people too if they want. LOVE this show. Hope to see some of you there!

Heroes Con 2011

Yup! Heroes Con is this weekend. I’ll once again be situated in Indie Island. This time at table AA-523 (only a couple tables over from where I usually am) and with my good friends Joel Carroll, Jason Horn and Dean Trippe to the lefts and rights of me. Which you can see from this map (click to enlarge):

I’ll also be on a webcomics panel Sunday morning. Here’s the info on that:

Sunday 11:30 AM
WEB COMICS–Group Effort
(Room 206)

Meet the Small Press groups who have developed their own multi-strip brand: Curt Franklin, Chris Haley, Mike Maihack, Kevin Church, and Benjamin Birdie will sit down and talk to Comic News Insider’s Jimmy Aquino about creativity in the Small Press World.

That should be fun. And don’t forget about the Catwoman piece I painted for their annual auction. I managed to find a frame for it too. See:

That’ll be on Saturday night at the Westin across from the convention center. It’s a big party that helps benefit the show (allowing guests like me to go as well as keeping ticket prices super-low or even free if you’re under 12).

So lots of stuff to look forward to. I’ll of course have Cleo books, prints, buttons, a pregnant wife, etc… as well as sketching for those who catch me early enough (I am a notoriously slow con sketcher).

Can’t wait. Love this show. Hope to see a lot of you there!

MegaCon was a blast as usual. Love hanging out with everyone over there. And I love only having to travel an hour outside my house. :)

I was pretty slow about getting sketches done this time. I think with this being my third convention in four weeks I was starting to get burnt out a little. But I was happy with the ones I was able to complete. Here are a few I was able to take pics of that didn’t turn out too blurry:

MegaCon 2011

Orlando MegaCon is this weekend! And I’ll be there. This is my most localest show. You should just assume as long as I’m living in Tampa and making comics, I’ll be at MegaCon. Here’s a map! :D

You’ll be able to find me same spot as always: white section; table 7. Looking forward to seeing both old and new faces. If you won’t be able to make it, here are the other places I plan on being at this year:

Heroes Con
June 3rd – 5th, 2011
Charlotte, NC

July 21st – 24th, 2011
San Diego, CA

Baltimore Comic-Con
August 20th – 21st, 2011
Baltimore, MD

Here are a bunch of convention sketches I did for some awesome people at the last two shows I’ve been to.

Apologies for some bad image quality. They were all photographed with my iPhone (an incredibly useful little device). If you are the owner of any of these, feel free to send me a hi-res scan!

As I mentioned last week, I’ll be in Seattle this weekend for Emerald City Comicon! I’ve never been to this show before (or Seattle for that matter) but I’m told it’s amazing. Also that it rains a lot. I’m really looking forward to it (the show, not the rain)!

Anyhow, I’ll be tabling in Artist Alley; table G-22. Here’s a map to help you find where that is (click for a larger view):

Also, don’t forget about ECCC’s exclusive hardcover Monsters & Dames book published to raise money for the Seattle Children’s Hospital. Here’s the piece I did for it:

There’s only going to be 1000 of these M&D books at the show, so if you want one better grab one early! The original line art for mine (and probably most of the others) will be part of ECCC’s annual charity auction.

And for those curious, here is what the rest of my convention schedule for 2011 is looking like:

march 25th – 27th, 2011
orlando, fl

heroes con
june 3rd – 5th, 2011
charlotte, nc

july 21st – 24th, 2011
san diego, ca

baltimore comic-con
august 20th – 21st, 2011
baltimore, md

Miami Comic Con

My first convention of 2011 is this weekend! I’ll be at Wizard World’s Miami Comic Con Saturday and Sunday at the Miami Airport Convention Center sitting next to the indomitable Dan Boyd at artist alley tables 1303 & 1305. Here’s a handy map so you know exactly where that is (click for the full map):

I’ll have all the usual books with me as well as a few new prints and other stuff. Maybe even some brand new Cleo and Khensu buttons. Should be a swell time.

Here’s a list of all the other conventions I’ll be at this year:

emerald city comicon
march 4th – 6th, 2011
seattle, wa

march 25th – 27th, 2011
orlando, fl

heroes con

con sketches

Baltimore Comic-Con was great! Thanks to everyone who stopped by. It’s exactly what I want from a comic convention: comic fans who bring their families and enjoy talking about, looking at and buying cool books and art. Also lots and lots of sketching. I thought I’d share a few of my favorites, as well as a few from San Diego that were originally just posted through my twitter account.

Also, sorry for the bad quality on some of these. Most were shot with a camera and without the assistance of my lovely and spectacular photographer wife.
